Review: Motorola RAZR V3
By Jacob Cohen | December 30, 2005
This phone replaced my old Samsumg e715, which had a cracked screen and was starting to lose battery life.
My wife and I decided to renew our contract with T-Mobile in exchange for good prices on new phones. In retrospect, we probably won’t do this again. Amortized over the life of the contract, it doesn’t really save any noticeable amount of money, but it does tie you in to a particular carrier.
I got the RAZR, and was immediately impressed with its long battery life, slim dimensions, and large interior screen.
However, I started to dislike other aspects of the phone, such as the abysmal user interface. I’d never had a phone which made it so much of a chore just to enter a new contact.
Additionally, the camera serves little purpose other than to say “hey, my phone has a camera in it.” The picture quality was no higher than in the older Samsung. I didn’t really expect a great camera, but it still seemed low quality when the rest of the phone seemed to have undergone so much engineering.
Having owned a Motorola phone in the past (my Samsung e715 replaced my Motorola StarTAC), I am a bit disappointed in this latest offering.
