iMix Created and Published
By Jacob Cohen | February 19, 2007
So as a followup to the previous item, I created an iMix from my computer at home, and published it in the iTunes store. It’s called “Songs for coding,” and contains some songs representative of the type of music I listen to when writing code.
On the positive side of this experience, at least Apple gives me a few ways of sharing the iMix once it has been created. This is one of them. Unfortunately it looks like you need a Flash player to view it. Anyway, here it is.
Hmm, in the spirit of flash widgets that contain some content I’ve created, I might as well include the Amazon Wish List widget here. This is a widget we’ve developed that lets anyone include a few items from their Wish List on their web page or blog.
Now that I see these side by side (so to speak), I’m pleased that it’s pretty obvious at first glance what content they contain. I do think I should make the Amazon widget a little more flexible. If web page real estate permits, customers should be able to use more space to show more items, and restyle the widget to fit in with their page. You can currently control the background color.

How do I get this flash Amazon Wish List widget for myself?
It’s great. Thanks!

Visit your Wish List. On the left there is a button called “Tell people about this list.” Click it, and you should get some choices. The last choice is called “By embedding a sample of recent additions in a web page”.
If you select that, you’ll get a preview of the flash widget, and the HTML to embed it.

Thanks a bunch Jacob. Amazon has so many buttons and options that I just assumed the “Tell people” button was another viral email gateway and never bothered to click on it. I’m glad someone did! I’ve never seen this widget on anyone else’s page before. Thanks for the wisdom.
