Quicktime
By Jacob Cohen | March 10, 2007
So Apple’s automatic update software just patched Quicktime and iTunes on my system to the latest versions. Great.
Except that every time they do this, they ignore the fact that I told Quicktime to not install itself in my system tray. And they create another desktop icon and another quick launch shortcut.
Why can’t it just be happy with its role as support code for iTunes without trying to plaster itself all over my system like a flyer for some garage band at the local skate park.
Maybe it is time to start looking at alternatives to iTunes. I just want to play my music, I don’t feel like sharing the Apple experience in its entirety.

On windows there is Foobar2000. You can even use it on linux under wine. I don’t know if there are builds of wine for Mac also.
Foobar2000 is actually the best player because… It only plays!
No more. Check out its website or look on Wikipedia or HydrogenAudio wiki
