Five Rules for Owning a Large SUV
By Jacob Cohen | April 25, 2007
Owning a large SUV such as a Ford Expedition or Cadillac Escalade can be tricky. Here are some basic rules that should help.
- Never use your turn signals. Your vehicle is big enough that everyone should be able to see what you’re doing.
- Always follow closely behind the car in front of you. Since you have such a superior view over their car, they will use your following distance as an indicator that there are no visible hazards in the road ahead.
- Try to limit your vehicle to one occupant, as this will maximize your fuel efficiency.
- You know those painted lines in parking lots? Those are just suggestions, pay them no heed.
- Always drive in the left-most lane. Smaller cars are meant to keep to the right, so flash your lights at them if you see any ahead of you.
Follow these guidelines and you’ll be well on your way to proper large-SUV ownership.
